AI Architects & Engineers provides consultancy

The construction of Comwell Copenhagen Portside is well underway and the hotel is expected to open in 2021. AI Architects & Engineers has been a part of the project as client adviser and has among other things contributed with knowledge of sustainable architecture.

Sustainable DGNB-certified construction

Both the investors behind the hotel – AP Pension and KEVA – and the hotel operator Comwell are focused on sustainability and have jointly decided that the construction of the hotel shall be projected to obtain the sustainable DGNB Silver certification.

The new hotel offers 484 rooms, 18 conference- and meeting rooms, restaurant and bar. The basement level provides an event-venue for 400 people and parking cellar with 89 parking spaces.

Maritime architecture

The architecture of the hotel is inspired by the harbour’s historic warehouses with simple windows and shutters. The windows are fortified by copper-coloured metal plates to create interaction between the light and reflections from the canal in front of the hotel. Within, the building winds itself in the shape of the number eight, with two green atriums in the centre and the green stretching out to the hotel’s lush facade.

Green initiatives

The construction is set to be DGNB-certified, and the hotel additionally puts an emphasis on organic foods, minimising food waste, low energy needs and social responsibility.
